London Older People's Resource Facility

The Greater London Authority (GLA) opened the London Older People's Resource Facility at Dexter House, Royal Mint Court in April 2004. In April 2006 it moved to Second Floor, Downstream Building, 1 London Bridge, London SE1 9BG.

What does the Resource Facility do?

Older People's Resource Facility launchAt the Facility, older people's organisations can pre-book access to computer services, desk space and the support of experienced Greater London Authority (GLA) staff. In addition to providing comprehensive information on GLA policies and how they affect older Londoners, the facility can offer details of the many support services on offer. A regular programme of information and skills sharing sessions are held covering topics such as chairing meetings, public speaking, minute taking or basic computer skills.

Why was it set up?

The Facility aims to make it easier for individuals and groups to make sure their views are fed into the decision making process of the GLA. It also helps the London Older People's Strategies Group (LOPSG) in carrying out a programme of activities throughout the year, including the annual London Older People's Assembly, the Capital Age Festival and the production of the quarterly newsletter Strategy.

Computer User LOPRFWho can use it?

Any London older person's organisation can apply for access to the Facility for a range of purposes, including producing newsletters or information leaflets, undertaking research on the internet, accessing the information library or obtaining advice and support from the GLA staff. The facility is currently used by a range of groups representing older Londoners, including older women's groups, black, Asian and other minority ethnic groups, lesbian and gay groups and disability group.

Please note, visits to the Resource Facility must be pre booked. If you are interested in using this resource, please call 020 7785 3873 to arrange an appointment time. This will give you the opportunity to view the Facility and discuss your requirements in more detail.
