Seventh London Older People’s Assembly -
Age Friendly London?

The Assembly was held at City Hall on 10th July 09 and was attended by 250 members

Over 200 people attended the LOPSG 7th Annuaql Older People's Assembly entitled "Age Friendly London?" which took place at City Hall on Friday 10th July 2009.

This year's event explored how far London is an age friendly and what specific barriers exist that can prevent older people from leading a ful and active life The Assembly was chaired by the Chair of LOPSG, Eileen McNally. Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, welcomed attendees and made the openning address. The keynote addresses were delivered by Richard Barnes, Deputy Mayor of London, and Geoff Mulgan, Director of the Young Foundation.

Four workshop sessions took place in the afternoon on the themes of Making London Safer, Helping Older Londoners Get Around, Positive Perceptions of Older People and the Mayor's Equalities Framework, and Promoting Essential Services. Panel members were: Denise Burke, LDA; Charlotte Burrows, Citizens Advise Bureau; Anne Elledge, Suzy Lamplugh Trust; David Gardiner, LOPSG; Stephen Golden,TfL; Emma Lattimer, Direct enquiries and Audrey Young GLA
