Joan Bennetto

In 2000, Joan was a foundation member of LOPSG and became chair of its cultural sub group. In 2002, she initiated Capital Age Festival (CAF), now in its fifth year. In 2006/07, funding was realised for major research into arts and older Londoners, a CAF website, an artistic director, a Winter Festival, commissioned work from key creative arts companies and access funding for marginalised groups.

As a LOPSG member and CAF director, Joan promotes the participatory arts, social inclusion, health and well being. She aims to influence the cultural implementation of the Mayor's Strategy for Older People and governmental policies on arts and health. She contributes to various LOPSG committees.

Joan previously worked in comprehensive education, teaching French. Her main interests are the arts, equalities issues, politics, languages, literature, travel, family and friends.
